Guntur Kaaram Movie Review
Guntur Kaaram is a Telugu action-drama film starring Mahesh Babu as Ramana, a young man from a village who moves to Lucknow to pursue his dreams of becoming a civil servant. The film is directed by Trivikram Srinivas and also features Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, and Jayaram in important roles.
The film revolves around Ramana's quest to find out why his mother, Vyra Vasundhara (Ramya Krishnan), a powerful politician, abandoned him and his father, Satyam (Jayaram), when he was a child. Ramana faces various obstacles and challenges from his grandfather, Venkata Swamy (Prakash Raj), who wants to cut off all ties between him and his mother. Ramana also has to deal with his love life, his career aspirations, and his friendships.
The film is a typical commercial entertainer that tries to balance family drama, comedy, romance, and action. However, the film fails to create a coherent and engaging narrative, as it suffers from a weak script, cliched dialogues, and superficial emotions. The film relies heavily on Mahesh Babu's star power and charisma, but even he cannot save the film from being a mediocre and forgettable affair.
Mahesh Babu delivers a decent performance as Ramana, showing his versatility and charm. He is the main attraction of the film, and his fans will enjoy his scenes. Sreeleela, who plays Ammu, Ramana's love interest, is also impressive with her dance skills and beauty. Meenakshi Chaudhary, who plays Raji, Ramana's childhood friend, has a limited role and does not have much scope to showcase her talent. The supporting cast, including Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Vennela Kishore, and others, do their best with their given roles, but they are not given enough screen time or importance.
The film's music by S Thaman is average, with no memorable songs or tunes. The cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa is good, capturing the essence of Lucknow and its culture. The action sequences are well-choreographed, but they are not very thrilling or innovative. The editing by Naveen Nooli could have been tighter, as the film drags on for more than two and a half hours.
In conclusion, Guntur Kaaram is a film that tries to please everyone, but ends up pleasing no one. It is a formulaic and predictable film that lacks originality and depth. It is a film that can be watched only for Mahesh Babu's performance, but even that is not enough to make it a satisfying or memorable experience.
